we pulled in here late at night near arbuckle state forest, and awoke to mystical fog and the lovely sound of moo-ing cows.
the last stop in florida was a camp out in ocala national forest. jordan found us a great little hidden camping spot down a kind-of-road that put a few new scratches on the van, but where we were able to stay in seclusion with a view of the lake and a nice fire.
into the everglades…
we didn’t see any panthers, but the long bumpy dusty ride into bear island provided many alligator sightings…
and a very dirty van!
rewarded by nature, peace and quiet…
and a nice big campfire.
got up at dawn the next morning for a bike ride,
to go on a panther hunt :)
again no panthers, but i did find this rare plastic ribbon tree…

teehee, yes you gave me those strings. never made it to mexico, so i had to start using them myself :)
with a little Macgyver-ing we have gotten a bike rack meant for a car trunk successfully attached to the hood of the van so we are able to carry both bikes.
dahsboard alter? Haig gave me a beautiful little bowl that he brought back from his trip to South America, and in it is sitting a some wonderful Palo Santo that Light came back with. We also have some Nag Champa, a couple Buddhas, some rocks passed on from friends etc.
We left some artwork to be remembered by in Strawberry and Josh’s house.

Our friend Light made a miraculous re-appearance in Hollywood. He got off his flight from South America and just happened to walk into the workplace of Strawberry (of Josh and Strawberry, who’s house we have been staying at for 3 weeks). We took him the next day to meet up with Haig and Charlie in Miami, Charlie drove up from the Keys to pick Haig up from his flight in from South America. Needless to say we has a sweet little unplanned reunion :)

So ya, still in Florida taking care of things.
No internet where we are staying so books have been the main choice of entertainment the last few weeks. It feels good to get back to reading, currently i am the middle of about 5 books hahaah.
We have the van parked at the house of two lovely new friends who have opened their home and lives to us.
Currently trying to see things in a new light and to take things on with new actions.
This year seems to be providing for me many opportunities for growth, now whether or not i have the courage, discipline and insight to take advantage of them is a whole other story. I did did end my year+ long love of meat products though, and have gone all the way to vegan plus I have quit smoking so i do need to remind myself of those two daily.
ps. jordan thinks i should change the name of the blog to Me, Van, Bike, 3 Plants, A Scoby and a Homeless Kid. I would add to that 40+ books, A Tresh of Coconuts, Enough Food to Feed a Family of 6, and Too Many Clothes

we got the baby scoby from Alex’x girlfiend Amy before leaving key west. above is what it looked like right before bottling the first batch.
it has now turned into an amazingly thick solid culture. we keep it under the bed and i often wake in the morning being able to smell it’s distinctive and delicious aroma.

miss the keys a bit, it was comfortable and the people i met were amazing. but time for new adventures, new things to see and learn are around the corner for me.
