great about town pictures....did you go inside the plantation house/hotel? beautiful bunny! so is this how you decorate gertie? someone's trash is another man's treasure......find any thing good? where did that rooster come from?
we went in the lobby of the house…it was nice, but the pool was the nicest part, not so historical but very pretty :)
we find lots of treasures in the garbage…many of gardening supplies recently, even huge potted plants.
many questions/comments have been made regarding my lack of bike pictures. well, these were all taken on a lovely evening bike ride, unfortunately i forgot to solicit someone to take an actual picture of me on the bike :)
bicycle love :)
some fancy historic house turned hotel
with a cute little bunny that lives on the property
a photogenic garden
and a roof to explore.
many abandoned houses here
with some great looking mailboxes.
misc pretty-ish things…
and a tree to climb (not as easy for me in my dress)
great pictures....is your artwork all free handed painting or is there some decoupage going on? what are you selling your pieces for? i'm interested in maybe helping the new kid in town out....are there any airstream trailers around? i like the picture of you in jordan's hat drinking your coffee?
the artwork is ink transfers from photos i’ve taken, sometimes i paint over them, or under them, or around them…whatever looks best. i have done them on canvas and wood panels int he past but now i use found wood.
new kid in town? airstreams? please elaborate
thanks for the pic likes…it’s officially ale’s hat
I work on a farm up near DC and I've become one of the market people. I work 3 markets a week and LOVE it. I have become addicted and in love with farmers markets! Though, they are never as beautiful as the markets you guys enjoy! Your photos are killin me! Making me want to drive down there and duct tape myself to your van. Keep it goin girl! I love your Tumblr!
well the snow has started here once again....how is the weather your way? were you able to sneak into that market you mentioned a week ago?
the weather is wonderful. most days i imagine how hot it is here in the summer and cringe a little at the thought….ya, it’s that’s warm. we went to the market, but didn’t set up…headed to the beach instead.
yeah, you're back! thanks so much for filling in the gaps. you and your crew look like things are going well. what is your artwork for sale made on? it looks like some type of lino block. you are looking well and happy if i may say. you and jordan make a good looking couple.so what's going on this weekend?
in the past i have made my art on canvas and wood panels, now i am making them from scrap wood found around town.
this weekend, or last weekend…haha, i dodnt know how long this message has been here unanswered. this weeknd is the key west botanical gardens festival, so we will try to set up the coconuts and maybe some art. not sure if we can get in…it might be full and we are trying to just show up and get in without having to pay/register…we’ll see :)
It is a dream of mine to travel the states in a van. To live with nature and explore everything that I possibly can. I want to meet people from all over the country and try many new things. I was just wondering how you got started with traveling and if you had the van before or after you decided to travel. You are so inspiring! Your van is also extremely cute inside! I love it so much!
i started travelling about 12 years ago. with a backpacks. the van was like my “upgrade”. most days it seems pretty nice to have everything i own/need with me and transportable..but every once in a while it feels like a burden and i long for just a backpack.
This is not so much a question, but more like an update. I'm one of the lucky people you sold you affordable/beautiful furniture to. This was shortly before you graciously fled the country, with you badass companion: Gertie. I mentioned you, and your journeys to a fellow employee (who thinks you are the bomb), and she was able to fish up your blog. Which, by the way, is truly inspiring. I try to follow at least once a week!
Anyhow, where was I? Ah yes, the chair!
Being the optimist that I am thought that the wobble was a selling point. A unique distinction even. However, upon sitting using the chair on this fine evening it busted to smithereens. Goose Egg on my head aside, I am okay. The chair? Not so much.
I somehow found humour in all of this, and thought I should share.
SO, I guess the questions now is…. would you know of any Toronto vintage stores that would have suitable computer chairs?
Safe travels, and always love!
oh my gosh. i am laughing as i type this…it that wrong? so sorry to hear about the chair. those chairs survived so long i just also thought the wobble was a unique part of it’s character. there are heaps of vintage furniture stores on queen east, all over priced. i suggest a sunday drive in the country in search of flea markets.
nice to see you in a few pictures.....would love to see the tiles that vicky paints.....what other arts and crafts have you done? where are the arts/crafts done, and who provides the materials?
nice to see black and white pictures.....
here is a link to vivki’s etsy with her custom switch plates
we all have our own art supplies. it was a rare day that we happened to be getting crafty together…just a nice coincidence. today i spent the day in the park painting. i put the hammock up for jordan…he has the flu :(
Where exactly is the treehouse. I'm very interested in taking a trip there! Are there any other interesting things to do near it?
i think i just stopped by en-route, not too much in those parts. but well worth the detour!
Beehive Lane, Crossville, TN
I-40 exit 320. Turn north onto Hwy 298, then make an immediate right at the stoplight onto Cook Rd. Drive almost a mile. As the road takes a sharp right, instead make a sharp left onto Beehive Lane. Drive about a half-mile. The pavement will end, but keep driving. You’ll see the tree house ahead and to the right.
jordan looks like a lion! what is on the card/picture that jordan is holding? i have to say that your hair looks worse than his.......you two look really happy together....more please.......are you planning on any day trips?
i think he looks like a cave man in those photos.
it’s a piece of artwork i made for him.
we have been pretty busy in town lately, so we haven’t made it outside of about a 5 mile radius in a couple weeks.
the last “day trip” we went on what up the keys about 40 miles and included a visit to Bahia Honda state park. it was a funny day filled with adventure and ending in my first sunburn in years.
thanks again for the great info....looks like it was a beautiful, hot, sunny day. could you please explain to me what a yerba matte is.....sorry not with the times......how did the guys do at sales? what are the hours of operation? would love a better view of your pamphlet.
i think i tried to post the pamphlet on here once and it looked all funny and wasn’t even legible…so i gave up :(
mate is kind of like tea, and is drank from a gourd with a weird straw…you should internet it to get a more accurate description :) i prefer coffee
SO awesome to see the pictures of the van, looks mighty comfy inside! How do you keep all that perishable food cold in the little fridge -- the van needs to be running for the fridge to power up, no? Do you plug into electric somewhere?
the batteries get charged when it’s running and i don’t use much electric so it’s has rarely been an issue. the fridge runs on propane.
do the days go by slowly?will you be bringing jordan on the rest of your journey?
the days are surprisingly busy…and with the short winter days it sometimes feels like not all can be accomplished. as for bringing the bf along for the rest of the journey…hmm, that will be on the hands of the universe, but it is nice to imagine.
Sorry if you've been asked this before, but I'm really interested in buying a vehicle like yours and I have just a few questions, so bare with me here: Is it reliable? I mean I have a 21 year old Volvo but I can't trust it with miles, only to and from school. So do you trust your car to take you all the places you obviously do go? If it does how problems, what are they? Is it's gas cost through the ceiling? Is it a stick shift? Sorry I'm not really educated on this specific topic, so anything else you could add would be super great!! Thank you so much!
hey, there’s a post a while back that will cover all of your question and more! let me know if you need any more info
Eliminating dairy can be hard... I suggest staying off soy, it taste like poop and it's filled with chemicals, more then meats. Try Almond milk. It's sooo good for you!!! Rice milk is pretty yummy as well. How's your new boyfriend? I see he has a lot of tattoos, I'm sure mom thinks its cute.
lots of almond milk is being consumed, i hate soy milk so much and your right, it’s not good for you.
hi there, my name is red. i love your blog. i think it nearly one of my favorite ones yet. i love your blog because its about a journey. not just photos of 'hipster' stuff or fashion & whatnot. thank you for sharing your journey. i hope its going well (: i sure wish i was your friend. you look like your having a great time. wheere are you now ? did you make it to mexico yet ?
Your van is the closest thing I've ever seen to the dream I have in my head for my future. I even found a lady who has the same dream. Maybe in a few years, when we are no longer van-less, our rolling homes can meet and honk horns at each other. :)
